Why We Need Fresh Air
The improved design of today's homes has increased the energy efficiency of a house. The energy costs in our homes have been greatly reduced.
The quest for energy efficient houses has saved us energy costs but has created an environmental problem by trapping pollutants and humidity which could be a threat to your family's health and comfort.
A better insulated house combined with energy efficient door and window systems creates a cocoon thus trapping humidity, cooking odors, pet dander, cigarette smoke, chemical off-gassing of carpeting, furniture, building materials and plastics. This stale air could aggravate breathing problems like asthma and cause headaches and colds.
Humidity caused by cooking, laundry facilities, showers and occupants is trapped within the house causing the warm humid air to condense on a cold surface like windows and walls. The moisture stains paint, corrodes plaster (encouraging the growth of mold) and may cause structural damage.
